The percentage of cargo containers that are scanned in 50 foreign ports before entering the United States. By the end of 2007, Customs and Border Protection plan to have screening operations in 58 foreign seaports covering 85 percent of cargo containers, according to testimony by Jayson Ahern. Ahern is the assistant commissioner for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Field Operations.
