Corporate endpoints could be less secure than many realize. In a recent study by Abingdon-based security vendor Sophos, 81 percent of corporate desktops and laptops had critical security vulnerabilities. The study, which examined about 600 endpoints worldwide, found that 63 percent of devices were missing Microsoft (MS) critical security patches. Thirty-nine percent lacked MS Office security patches. Fifteen percent of endpoints had antivirus software that was either out of date or misconfigured, and 50 percent of machines had improperly set up firewalls.
