Forty-six percent of respondents say cyber threats have somewhat or significantly increased in the past two years. One major challenge in addressing the attacks concerns staffing. Two in five organizations say they are somewhat or significantly understaffed, primarily because of difficulties finding qualified applicants, layoffs, and budgetary shortfalls. Exacerbating the problem is that existing staff’s skill sets are too narrow, say respondents.
The study surveyed 1,000 U.S. and European IT managers in January 2009.
