More data breaches are caused by inside threats than by those from outside. It makes sense, then, that a new online resource has an encyclopedia of internal threats. The latter could include unwanted file types, P2P file sharing programs, and instant messaging or Voip programs.
Each threat is ranked by severity on a five-part scale, ranging from “extremely critical” to “not critical.” Listed threats also include information on the systems affected, relevant links, and the date added. The site also includes news on internal-threat incidents. Some of the top current threats include MySpace and the VoIP services Skype and Google Talk. The number of entries will eventually be in the thousands. It’s this month’s Site to See.
