IT administrators frequently need to quickly access a range of information about their, or another company’s, network. Robtex offers a wide range of information, such as Internet protocol and domain name, on any site. You can also find the contact information of a company that owns a site. There’s a reason this site calls itself the “Swiss Army Knife Internet tool.”
One particularly useful additional feature of the site is that it provides one way of learning whether your organization could harbor botnets, a common computer infection. The site provides a box in which to enter your network Internet Protocol (IP) address. This is then checked against the more than 100 sites that blacklist IP addresses for sending excessive spam. If your IP is blacklisted in several locations, it could be an indicator.
Many of the lists provide contract information. If you’re blacklisted, you can send an inquiry to find out why.
