A Site to See: VirusTotal

Every antivirus (AV) program has its weaknesses, but running more than one on your computer simultaneously will almost certainly cause system meltdown. Do you have a file or program that you think is safe, but still makes you nervous? Perhaps your current AV skips a particular file or scans it and produces a cryptic message?

VirusTotal eases any jitters. Upload any file, up to 10 megabytes in size, and scanned by 29 AV programs, including most market leaders. Files are scanned sequentially; each program’s test results are visible on completion. The process usually takes less than 15 minutes. Aside form Trojans, worms, and key loggers, most programs also scan for spyware. It’s this month’s Site to See.
