Terrorist Tracking

The Department of Homeland Security's strategy for tracking terrorists can be summarized thusly: Pursuant to HSPD-6, the TSC will work with the FTTTF in conjunction with the TTIC, which is building a TID, based on TIPOFF, that will eventually become a TSDB. Who needs encryption when you have government shorthand? In plain English, this means that via a Homeland Security Presidential Directive, the FBI will oversee a new multiagency Terrorist Screening Center. At this center, various watch lists will be merged into a single terrorist screening database. The center will complement the Foreign Terrorist Tracking Task Force, led by the FBI, and work in conjunction with the Terrorist Threat Integration Center, a central locale for analyzing terrorist threat data. Still confused? A recent report by the Congressional Research Service of the Library of Congress explores these various links in the terrorist-tracking chain in more detail. SM Online brings you the report.
