G4S Technology Limited of Tewksbury, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom, has integrated its Symmetry Security Management software with the ASSA ABLOY Aperio range of wireless online locks. The combination allows companies to replace existing manual locks and wirelessly connect them to the access control system at a reasonable cost. Information is transferred between the card and the lock via a hub, which is usually located in the ceiling above the door. This provides more security than other wireless systems, because each use of a card triggers a check of the online database for access permissions. Rights can be changed without delay.
