
Northrop Grumman Corporation of Reston, Virginia, has developed BioTRAC, a rugged, portable identity management system for secure and efficient multimodal biometrics collection in the field. The customizable system supports military operations as well as homeland security, law enforcement, and transportation security missions. Its open hardware platform accommodates Windows or Linux-based commercial and government biometric collection matching software. Biometric acquisition devices include four high-resolution fingerprint sensors, a multifunction camera with one- and two-dimensional barcode reading, and dual iris capture cameras. Additional capabilities include a smart card reader, GPS, barcode scanner proximity card reader, and wireless communications, including 3G, 802.11, and Bluetooth. The unit is manufactured by Black Diamond Advanced Technology of Tempe, Arizona.
