Delayed Egress

Alarm Lock Systems of Amityville, New York, has introduced the Sirenlock Model 715, an easy-to-install surface-mounted unit that prevents shoplifters from pass­ing through unauthorized exit doors with mer­chandise. The device includes a deadbolt/deadlatch standard panic bar and an armored door cord for wiring. It provides 15 to 30 seconds of delay before a person can exit the door, and it has a built-in 95-decibel dual piezo alarm that alerts authorities when someone is trying to leave. In order to provide instant egress during an emergency, the delayed egress exit alarm must be connected to an existing fire system or standalone smoke detector. The unit meets UL specifications and the NFPA 1012 Life Safety Code.
