Security Engineered Machinery of Westboro, Massachusetts, has redesigned its low-volume disintegrators for the thorough destruction of sensitive and outdated records. Models 200 and DS-200 destroy paper and other materials, including CDs and DVDs, key tape, floppy disks, audiocassettes, ID badges, and credit cards. Model DS-200 is a dual-stage unit with a built-in conventional shredder that accepts 14 sheets of paper at a time. Preshredding reduces cycle time, saves energy, and extends the life of the on-board disintegrator. Both units include a 2- by 9-inch feed opening; a new waste-evacuation, dust-collection system; and a new cabinet for quieter operation.
