It provides the versatility to meet stringent explosives detection requirements and to accelerate the deployment of detectors in the field. The hand-held unit can rapidly and accurately detect trace amounts of explosive residue on surfaces, in vehicles, and on skin, making it ideal for checkpoint situations. When incorporated into a mobile robotic platform, it can help search for explosive devices and, using the robot’s onboard capabilities, disarm them without endangering soldiers or other personnel.
