Morpho Detection, Inc., of Newark, California, announced that its CTX 9800 DSi explosives detection system has been certified by the Transportation Security Administration in a high-speed configuration that processes 40 percent more bags than its previously certified system. It provides high-resolution imaging using the Clarity data acquisition system. It is certified at a belt speed of 0.3 meters per second, fast enough to screen more than 1,000 bags per hour. It uses computed tomography imaging technology to create a three-dimensional image of each bag. The system then uses algorithms to automatically compare the contents of the bag with the properties of known threats.
