Datastrip Inc. of Exton, Pennsylvania, has integrated the TouchChip TCS1 silicon fingerprint sensor from UPEK, Inc., of Emeryville, California, into its DSVII-SC (smart card) and DSVII-PA (passport) hand-held ID verification devices. The UPEK TouchChip TCS1 is approved by the General Services Administration for use in the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS 201) and Personal Identification Verification (PIV) programs. The fingerprint sensor performs well for a wide range of conditions and finger types, making it effective for capturing fingerprint images in real-world conditions. The power-efficient sensor integrates well with the verification devices, and their battery life is 14 hours.
