Kaba Access Control of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has introduced the E-Plex 5800 series, a standalone access control system approved by the U.S. General Services Administration to meet FIPS-201 requirements. The battery-operated locks integrate FIPS-201 technology from CoreStreet of Cambridge, Massachusetts. They include a range of options and features to accommodate a wide variety of applications. The system can enroll FIPS-201 cards at the reader without use of software, or (with software) users can check card validation against the Federal Bridge PKI, import photos, set access schedules, and retrieve audit trails.
