Gunfire Detection

Appears in the issue.

SST, Inc., of Newark, California, has launched ShotSpotter SiteSecure, an indoor gunfire detection, location, and alert system that detects and locates gunfire and automatically alerts first responders within seconds. In active-shooter situations, 911 calls may take as long as two to three minutes after the first shots are fired to reach authorities. Knowing when and where shots have been fired can make a critical difference to officer and citizen safety. The solution can also function as an on-scene decision tool that can empower responsible parties to alert staff to initiate lockdown, automatically initiate mass notification systems, establish communications between staff and responders, and coordinate tactical response.
