School Safety

Appears in the issue.

AAID Security Solutions of Peachtree City, Georgia, has introduced long-range RFID campus safety emergency evacuation and mustering solutions for schools. Ultra-long-range hands-free RFID readers allow school officials and first responders to know what students, staff, and visitors were in the building at the time of the emergency, where they are, who has left, and who is still inside. The readers provide long-range zone coverage that can read multiple tags simultaneously from up to 2,000 feet away. The read range is adjustable, and directional and omni-directional antennas can be discreetly installed in ceilings, walls, or doorways to track personnel tag location. The cell-phone-sized readers communicate simultaneously in RS-232, RS-485, TTL, or TCP-IP protocol formats for custom personnel and asset control software applications. They can also communicate in 26- or 32-bit Wiegand formats. The passive readers cannot cause interference with electronic equipment or jam other readers if their read fields overlap.
