A new version of the Security Knowledge Manager (SKM) from videoNEXT of Chantilly, Virginia, offers new features that improve IP video surveillance management. The 2.4 release incorporates a completely redesigned video retrieving engine for greater efficiency. It allows a standard Intel server to manage nearly twice as many cameras and support a larger variety of cameras and sensors. Credentialing and storage management modules have also been improved for sophisticated, granular control over user management and video retention policies. Media delivery through HTTP and RTSP maximizes bandwidth usage and optimizes delivery in heterogeneous environments. A database-driven event log provides enhanced performance, usability, and archive management. An improved storage volume manager supports multilayered event preservation.
