The Fastlane Door Detective from Smarter Security Systems of Austin, Texas, uses optical technology to detect tailgaters with a high degree of alarm accuracy. Infrared beams from enclosures mounted on each side of a doorway or hall monitor how many people move through an access-controlled portal and in which direction. The detector alarms when someone passes through without authorization and can lock adjacent doors to deny further access. It can also integrate with video surveillance systems to help assess threats.
