The Thermal-Eye X-150 is the newest addition to the line of thermal imaging cameras from Dallas-based L-3 Infrared Products. The lightweight, pocket-sized camera has an operating life of six hours and can detect activity from more than 1,000 feet away in total darkness. The visibility delivered by the imagers gives users an advantage, particularly when viewing is inhibited by total darkness or smoke clouds resulting from explosions, fires, or natural disasters. Designed for simple operation and optimal flexibility, the camera incorporates an upgraded amorphous silicon engine for improved image clarity and picture definition because it captures more heat sensitivity. The camera fills a need in the middle ground between the company’s compact Thermal-Eye X-50 and top-of-the-line X200xp, which can detect human activity from 1,475 feet away.
