L-3 Communications of New York City has launched the Thermal-Eye Renegade-320 thermal imaging system that can operate as a hand-held device, a tripod-mounted surveillance system, or a thermal weapon sight. It provides six hours of operation on four batteries. It also offers five different reticles, an optional laser pointer, and an image capture feature that stores 200 pictures. A camera interface cable allows operators to simultaneously connect to external power, view the scene on a monitor, and download images to a computer through a USB connection. The lightweight, water-submersible unit is available in three fields of view to support close, middle-, and long-range operations.
