Axis Communications Inc. of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, has added automatic tracking to its top-of-the-line AXIS 233D Network Dome Camera. The function detects a moving person or vehicle and follows it within the camera’s area of coverage. It is particularly useful in unmanned video-surveillance situations to ensure that the right part of a scene is recorded when no one is monitoring the camera. Auto-tracking is available as a feature in new cameras, and current AXIS 233D owners can install the feature for free by downloading the latest firmware at www.axis.com.
