Access Control

The new E5 Series Entry Check from Security Door Controls of Westlake Village, California, is a 3000-user access control reader. Designed for standalone or PC-managed applications, it can handle a network of up to 99 readers. A second reader can be added for in/out control or vandal resistant outdoor applications. Models are available with a combination keypad and card entry reader, with indoor and outdoor HID-compatible proximity readers, and with standard or vandal resistant digital keypads. Each reader is equipped with a compact remote relay module that incorporates all control input and output contacts for high security applications. The addition of an optional RS-485/TCP/IP adapter enables system management from multiple PCs.

Antimicrobial Locks

Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies of Carmel, Indiana, has announced that Schlage levers and locks, Von Duprin exit and panic devices, Glynn-Johnson push/pull levers, and Ives door accessories are now available with an optional antimicrobial coating that inhibits the growth of  substances such as bacteria, mold, and mildew on their surfaces. The coating uses ionic silver, a natural antimicrobial that interacts with bonding sites on the microbe surface to slow the growth of germs. The silver ions are released at a slow, steady rate for continuous, long-term protection. This coating would be useful in healthcare, education, and food service applications.

Bollards

SecureUSA, Inc., of Cumming, Georgia, has introduced a line of sidewalk bollards that require less than a foot of foundation depth. The bollards have been crash-tested and certified by the U.S. Department of State at the K4 level, withstanding 15,000 pounds at 30 miles per hour. Other models protect at speeds of 40 and 50 miles per hour. Decorative sleeves can be placed over the bollards to match the architectural décor of the building. The bollards are installed as individual units, allowing contractors to use typical equipment—no need for cranes or specialized lifting equipment.

Control Room Consoles

In an expansion of the Prestige Line of control room consoles, Minneapolis-based Winsted has announced the new Sight-Line series for command-and-control applications. The console features the Versa-Trak monitor array mounting system, which allows users to easily modify sight lines and monitor viewing angles based on personal needs. All consoles are equipped with the TruForm work surface and decorative end panels, which are available in a variety of colors and shapes. Custom work surfaces and end panels are also available in laminate MDF or solid surfaces. The Insta-Lock fastening system makes construction and installation quick. Two-, four-, and six-foot modular frames can be shipped unassembled or partially set up. Options include a rack turret with vented top, a swing-out CPU shelf on the door, a door pocket for file storage, and a rack-rail kit for two-foot base model consoles.

Desk Systems

The new Surveillance and Monitoring Desk Systems from Middle Atlantic Products of Fairfield, New Jersey, are designed with flexibility for efficient operation in any security setting. The new systems feature highly adjustable optional monitor supports for up to six screens per desk. Flexible configurations allow linked multidesk applications and easy setup for straight, curved, and serpentine layouts. Repositioned cable entry points on the desk surface provide improved cable management with added routing options from desk to monitors and control surfaces. Ergonomically contoured edges for desktops and keyboard shelves allow operator comfort. Desk surface heights have been raised to 30 inches to accommodate various sizes of users. Monitor mounting access areas and cable management raceways have been redesigned to provide a more open workspace for integrators.
