Border Security

Rontal Applications Ltd. of Lod, Israel, has developed a special version of its SimGuard incident management system for ensuring border checkpoint efficiency and maintaining operational continuity during real-time events. It allows border-control authorities to evaluate a facility’s efficiency by using simulations. A three-dimensional model of the crossing point is built into the system database, and the system analyzes the efficiency and vulnerability of various components, such as inspection rooms, storage, and parking areas. Managers can conduct simulations of various threats, such as fire, explosives, and evacuations. The system gathers information from sensors and devices in real time, presenting it in a situational awareness display. If an incident occurs, personnel can identify the scenario and predict its potential impact on site operations. The system advises the operator on optimal actions to be taken. Following the incident, SimGuard’s debriefing mode allows officers to analyze it and the team’s actions.

Electronic Lock

CyberLock, a powerful access control solution for utilities and electric transmission companies, helps protect cyber assets that are critical under critical infrastructure protection (CIP) reliability standards. The solution, from Videx of Corvallis, Oregon, brings intelligent access control to existing lock hardware simply by replacing each lock’s mechanical cylinder with an electronic cylinder. Management can track contractors and employees that go into sensitive locations, because the electronic locks and keys record openings and exceptions such as unauthorized attempts to gain access. Each CyberKey can be programmed to open selected locks and padlocks on specific days and times. Keys can be set with a beginning and ending date, and the electronic keys cannot be duplicated.

Narrow-Stile Lock

Kaba Access Control of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has added the E-Plex 3700 Series Narrow Stile PIN/PROX Lock to its E-Plex product line. The E-Plex 3700 is an electronic PIN and proximity lock for narrow stile aluminum glass doors and works with HID’s PROX credentials, including cards, fobs, and more. Proximity credentials can be quickly enrolled at the lock or with optional software. The 3700 series locks retrofit Adams Rite narrow stile mortise models 1850 1950, 4070, 4510, 4520, 4530, 4710, 4720, 4730, 4900, 4920AN, MS 1850S, MS 1950S, and 8400 Series.

P.A. Amplifier

The PL200M 5x4 Multisource/Multizone Amplifier from Speco Technologies of Amityville, New York, features matrix technology that allows it to route five separate inputs to four distinct zones. Assigning a source to a zone is accomplished by pressing a button. Each source has separate gain, treble, bass, and volume controls. Three inputs feature a universal plug that allows the connection of an XLR or 1/4-inch plug into the same unit. The 160-watt amplifier also features a telephone paging function and monitor output for music-on-hold feature.

Video Server

The new Siqura S-60 E triple-stream video server from Optelecom-NKF of Germantown, Maryland, can stream H.264, MPEG-4, and MJPEG simultaneously. Open Streaming Architecture provides effortless third-party integration and guarantees compatibility with equipment from other vendors. The encoder is available in two rack-mount versions as well as a standalone version. The rack-mount version has an optional pluggable SFP slot for connections via fiber optic cable. The server has a Web interface and is easily upgradeable in the field. Full in-band control is available through Siqura’s MX Configuration Tool Kit or the HTTP API. S-60 E multi-codec video servers are part of the Siqura collection of video surveillance equipment and solutions, including video codecs/servers, IP cameras, video management, network storage, and configuration software.
