►The autopsy report of a man who died in Arkansas police custody has ruled the death a suicide [1]. The state crime lab said Chavis Carter shot himself in the head while handcuffed in the back of a police car with a weapon he managed to keep concealed after being searched twice by police. The muzzle of the gun was placed against his right temple, according to the report. “Police have said officers frisked Carter, 21, twice after a traffic stop without finding a gun before he was fatally shot, but the department's internal investigation continues,” the Associated Press reports. Carter tested positive for marijuana, methamphetamine, and “trace amounts of the anti-anxiety medication diazepam and the painkiller oxycodone.” Police have also released dash cam video from the initial traffic stop [2].

►Mexico City airport has sacked its entire airport police contingent [3]. All 348 officers have been assigned to other states. The cause for the line change was a shooting in June: “Three officers approached a group of their colleagues to arrest them on suspicion of being part of a drug-trafficking ring operating at the airport. The suspects opened fire and killed two of the detaining officers on the spot, a third died of his injuries in hospital,” the BBC reports.
