Until 3:00 p.m. today, both job seekers and employers can visit the Career Pavilion in the Grand Hall on the way into Exhibit Hall A. Tables are set up there for companies to post and share career opportunities within their organizations.

Attendees can drop off copies of their resumes and have their questions answered on employment options and career paths by company representatives. Both persons in the security field who are looking to take the next step in their careers and individuals seeking advice on how to get started in the security management profession will find the conversations rich with details.

Career counseling will also be available to on-site participants. Members of the ASIS Leadership and Management Practices Council and (ISC)2 volunteers will review resumes and help with wording and formats. Kathy Lavinder, executive director, Security and Investigative Placement Consultants, will also be on hand to discuss interviewing dos and don’ts based on her experience.

ASIS mentorship programs as well as details on the certification options available from both ASIS and (ISC)2 will also be on display.

Online, companies will have access to the thousands of searchable resumes at the ASIS Career Center and can promote themselves through the Pavilion Web site. Both IT and security management positions are represented.

The ASIS Career Center, which serves both job seekers and employers, can be accessed at the ASIS International Web site: www.asisonline.org [1]. By clicking on “Employment Opportunities” in the left navigation bar, companies can reach qualified candidates quickly and easily, while security professionals can look for opportunities to advance their careers.

Companies can post position openings on the site for 60 days. Listings must be for management-level positions with specific responsibility for security-related functions. Because posts can be accessed by all 37,000 members of ASIS International, even the most specific job requirements can be fulfilled by qualified candidates, many who have attained ASIS board certifications. To assist with salary negotiations, a salary calculator can help approximate cost-of-living differences within the United States.

The site is not just a passive experience, however. Job seekers can receive assistance in planning a job search campaign, writing a resume, negotiating a compensation package, and estimating relocation costs.
