The European Court of Justice has ruled that an information-sharing agreement between the United States and the European Union (EU) is invalid because it violates EU laws. The agreement required that airlines provide personal data on every person flying into the United States. While the case was argued on privacy grounds, the court voided the agreement based on its finding that the U.S. is using the data for police matters, rather than for commercial purposes. @ The court ruling [1] is available at Security Management Online.
