Recently launched in Europe, CheckView is an IP video management software solution that provides retailers with networked video and retail intelligence. Developed by Checkpoint Systems, Inc., of Thorofare, New Jersey, and Milestone Systems of Copenhagen, Denmark, the system helps retailers analyze and manage transaction data with video verification for point-of-sale systems. It includes software, server, and service in addition to the IP network and digital cameras, which offer higher resolution for better recognition. It can be set to react to selected events, such as motion detection, and other alarm triggers. The network cameras can be powered over the Ethernet using existing cables and backed up by uninterruptible power supplies. The point-of-sale module records all cash register transactions and overlays them into event videos, so users can search by transaction data or product name.
