The world's power and control specialist has acquired one of the world's leaders in video surveillance systems.

It's official: Schneider Electric [1]finalized yesterday its acquistion of Pelco [2], one of the world's leaders in video surveillance systems.

The press release [3] announcing the acquisition says the purchase of Pelco will reinforce the offering of Schneider's "Building Automation business, which encompasses power and HVAC control, electronic security and fire safety, and increases its ability to provide integrated solutions."

Schneider bought Pelco for $1.5 billion. Pelco was consolidated into Schneider's accounts as of yesterday.
