It might seem odd to dedicate network resources to actually try to attract hackers, but that’s exactly what these servers, attached to the Internet, do. They don’t really contain any sensitive corporate information, though they may have plenty of files and folders that seem to be filled with payroll data or other such hacker delights. What do they do? They allow network administrators and researchers to see firsthand what kinds of tools and techniques attackers are using by capturing and studying their actions.
