Today, three more ports will enroll in the Transportation Security Administration's  new program to provide identification cards to those workers that need unescorted access to sensitive areas at our nation's ports.

The ports enrolling in the Transportation Worker Identification Credential [1] (TWIC) today are the ports of Tacoma, Washington; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Tomorrows the ports of Oakland, California, and Beaumont, Texas, will also begin enrollment, bringing the total number of ports enrolled to seven. The ports of Wilmington, Delaware, and Corpus Christi, Texas, are already enrolled.

Enrollment is continuing despite maritime stakeholders' concerns [2]that TWIC is being improperly managed by TSA and that enrollment estimates are wildly off the mark.
