Designed specifically for data centers and storage area networks, Micro Data Center Plenum Fiber Optic Cable from Berk-Tek of New Holland, Pennsylvania, incorporates the company’s patented dry loose-tube technology in a smaller outside diameter that is adapted specifically for the indoor-only data center, storage area network, and building backbone environment. The new patent-pending construction provides a 50 percent smaller cross sectional area than equivalent fiber count indoor cables. The cables can help prevent cabinet and pathway congestion, enhancing airflow and facilitating more efficient cooling. The new cables have plenum ratings up to 72 fibers, allowing a significant cost reduction over traditional cable options. They are also available with aluminum or steel interlocking armor, and as preterminated cable assemblies with multifiber connectors or single-fiber-type connectors.
