The earthquake measured 6.3 on the Richter Scale and hit close to the Nevada-Utah border near the sparsely populated town of Wells, Nevada.

A large earthquake hit northeast Nevada this morning, measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale according to preliminary reports [1] from the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake was reported at 6:16 a.m. (EST).

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 11 miles southeast of Wells, Nevada, near the Nevada-Utah border. The small town has a population of 1,300.

"There are no immediate reports of damage or injures," reported [2]the Associated Press.
