The Metor 200 walk-through metal detector from Rapiscan Systems of Hawthorne, California, features multizone detection. Each detection zone functions as an independent detector and automatically increases discrimination by reducing the cumulative signal effect caused by distributed harmless objects. Each of the eight zones has a separate display so the operator can locate objects of interest. Sensitivity can be adjusted for the entire detector and for individual zones. All parameters are set through a remote control unit. An alphanumeric display shows the results of parameter adjustments, traffic counts, and self-testing diagnostics. The detector is also available in high-discrimination, high-sensitivity, and weatherproof models.
