VideogeniX of Brookline, Massachusetts, has introduced the iPulse, a compact add-on that monitors the output of an IP camera’s digital signal. If the signal is interrupted, the device sends a command to restart the camera, eliminating the need for human intervention. Once the system is restored, the device continues to monitor the signal and intervene when needed. External LEDs allow users to see whether the camera is functioning. The device also supports the option of an audio alarm to detect a communication failure. Power comes from a switchable cable; a second connection monitors the signal from the camera. It works with wired or wireless digital cameras and analog cameras attached to IP video servers. Software that runs in the background of a network PC is included.
