Vicon Industries Inc. of Hauppauge, New York, has introduced upgraded video digital recorders. The VDR-304 is a four-channel unit and is available with a choice of hard drives up to 500 gigabytes. The VDR-308 has eight video channels, and the VDR-316 is a 16-channel unit, both with a 300-gigabyte hard drive.

The VDR-308 has eight video channels, and the VDR-316 is a 16-channel unit, both with a 300-gigabyte hard drive. New to these units is incorporation of high-quality MPEG-4 video compression to provide smaller file size and superior picture quality. They also offer multichannel playback and backup with a 128-channel multiviewer. All units have Quadplex simultaneous recording, playback, backup, and network streaming. The new models can search by a date/time calendar in addition to a search by alarm event. They offer remote PC access via a network or the Internet, while live monitoring and remote playback are available via Web browser.
