The AXIS Camera Station is comprehensive video management software for monitoring, playback, and event management of up to 50 Axis network cameras or video encoder channels. Axis Communications of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, has launched version 3.0 of the software, which features an enhanced user interface and support for the H.264 video compression technology, which allows improved image quality, simplified deployment and management of large systems, and better cost efficiency. Using H.264 in all network cameras, video encoders, and video management systems, customers can save up to 50 percent of storage and network bandwidth, compared to MPEG-4 Part 2 and up to 80 percent compared to M-JPEG. The third generation software offers pan-tilt-zoom and dome camera control using a mouse or joystick, along with digital pan-tilt-zoom support in live view and playback. It also offers multiple access levels for security and an unlimited recording database that is restricted only by disk space.
