The Mag EraSURE ME-P3E automatic degausser from Security Engineered Machinery of Westboro, Massachusetts, completely and permanently removes information from hard drives and other magnetic media. Listed on the NSA Approved Product List, the unit complies with U.S. Department of Defense degaussing requirements. It also features a built-in hand crank that allows for manual operation when power is unavailable. It accommodates floppy and removable magnetic disks, as well as most desktop and notebook hard drives, whether they are functioning or not. It also operates on 1/2-inch, DLT, LTO, QIC, DAT, 8 mm, TRAVAN, and AIT tapes. An array of permanent, high-energy, rare-earth magnets enables the unit to fully erase data and timing information in one 40-second cycle that can be run continuously.
