Zistos Corporation of Holbrook, New York, has introduced the new VRAD radiological video adaptor that cost-effectively adds radiological detection to fixed or mobile surveillance camera systems. Radiation levels and alarms are reported on a video overlay that appears over the surveillance video and can be viewed or recorded on existing video surveillance hardware. The unit is powered by the existing camera and is packaged in a weatherproof enclosure that is easily mounted on a wall near the camera. The system is useful for generating an early warning of a dirty bomb or radiological materials in the vicinity.
