The new iBR9000 from Videx of Corvallis, Oregon, is a lightweight data collection product that easily fits on a key ring or in a pocket. Featuring a high-impact fiberglass-reinforced nylon case with a stainless-steel read head, it can weather harsh operating conditions, and the two-ounce device easily withstands the repeated impact of six-foot drops. The unit collects data from Touch Memory iButtons to support security patrols, hazardous waste inspections, and fire safety checks. It provides an audible tone, and its LED light flashes when it successfully reads an iButton, storing information from up to 9,000 reads. The collected data can be downloaded to a computer via an infrared connection to the IR port on a computer or to a cellular PDA in the field.
