Videx of Corvallis, Oregon, has developed an easy-to-manage access control solution for medical drug cabinets. Custom­ers can bring electronic access control and accountability to cabinets simply by replacing the mechanical cylinder inside an existing cabinet lock with a CyberLock electronic cylinder. No wiring is required for installation. The cylinder provides key control and the ability to restrict and audit traffic to pharmaceutical cabinets. An administrator can track access to sensitive areas because both the electronic lock and the key record lock and key activity. The system includes the electronic cylinder that has no keyway to pick and the electronic key that cannot be duplicated. Each authorized user’s key can be programmed to access selected locks on specific days and times. The need for rekeying is eliminated because a lost key can be quickly blocked from the system and keys can be set with starting and expiration dates.
