Security budgets will continue to grow in 2010, according to a recent Forrester Research report. The report also says that spending on new security products is recovering. Forty-two percent of enterprises expect spending on new technology to “significantly increase.” Only 10 percent of firms expect it to “significantly decrease.”

The biggest spending increase will be in the area of network security, with 40 percent of firms expecting a “significant increase” in budget spending and 6 percent expecting a “significant decrease.” This is followed by governance, risk, and compliance, in which 34 percent expect a “significant increase” and 8 percent expect a “significant decrease.” Other areas of strong growth include data security and security operations (including security information management; configuration and patch management; and incident response, forensics, and investigations).
