SmarterFence is a fiber optic intrusion detection system that is designed to protect facilities by alarming any attempt to cut or climb a perimeter security fence. Made by Smarter Security Systems of Aus­tin, Texas, the security fence cable consists of a continuously monitored fiber optic cable that is sensitive to a wide range of vibrations, flexing, compression, and cutting. Detection is achieved via transmission of laser light, so it is not susceptible to electrical interference. Automatic environmental compensation minimizes nuisance alarms. The cable is easy to install and repair or replace, and it can be used on fences, gates, walls, and roofing, in addition to covert buried applications.
