ComNet Communication Networks of Danbury, Connecticut, has introduced a high-capacity managed Ethernet switch. The environmentally hardened Comworx CNGE2FE24MSPoE provides a high port-density in a compact package and provides power over Ethernet (PoE) to peripheral devices such as IP cameras and video encoders. Its 24 10/100TX ports and two 1000-Mbps combo ports use easily interchangeable, small-form-factor, pluggable optic devices as optical interfaces. All ports support IEEE.802.3af-based PoE. The unit offers Internet Group Management Protocol snooping V1/V2 for multicast filtering; Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol, which provides a redundant network path in case of a failure; and port-based Virtual Local Area Network for scalability, security, and network management.
