AElement is a new RFID hotel lock from Atlanta-based SALTO Systems. The wireless system enables hoteliers to control the security of the entire building, grant access privileges to individual rooms, and gather audit data from every door from a single location. All locks are wireless ready when delivered. The system’s backbone is a series of gateways and repeaters that act as antennas, collecting and sending information from the computer server directly to the locks. One gateway can manage several locks and repeaters to minimize infrastructure costs. The system operates on a 2.4 GHz wireless network over 802.15.4 protocol and works with popular technologies such as Mifare and Desfire, as well as with standard hotel guest cards.
