Massachusetts has approved a new law (formerly H.B. 4910) that addresses the security of vital records in the state [1]. The law empowers state and town clerks to refuse to issue a copy of a vital record if they suspect that the request for the record has been falsely made, altered, forged, counterfeited, or procured through fraud.
