Honeywell of Melville, New York, has released a new technology platform for its Total Connect service that allows home and business owners to remotely manage security systems and view live video via PCs, smartphones, tablets, and other Web-enabled devices. Total Connect 2.0 simplifies operation and installation and is preconfigured to work with the company’s LYNX and VISTA alarm controls. Highlights include an interactive dashboard with Flash-based graphics, enhanced navigation, simplified setup, and new capabilities. Users can remotely arm and disarm security systems and access video feeds via laptops and other devices. They can also receive e-mail messages and video alerts for security and nonsecurity events such as burst pipes and sudden temperature changes.
