Sargent Manufacturing Company of New Haven, Connecticut, has incorporated HID iCLASS 13.56 MHz smart-card technology in its Passport 1000 P1 and P2 power over Ethernet (PoE) campus access control solutions. The iCLASS technology makes physical access control more powerful through encryption and mutual authentication while offering interoperability. The P1 is an online lock that can make decisions locally and is capable of real-time door status monitoring and lockdown. The P2 uses WiFi technology, allowing communications over an IEEE 802.11 network using standard equipment. Both locks support magnetic stripe and HID 125 kHz proximity or 13.56 MHz iCLASS credentials, in addition to an optional keypad.
