Residential Security Alarm Program

Posted by ecoley on Fri, 03/20/2009 - 09:20

Currently we monitor our Corporate Executive's homes and looking at the possibility of outsourcing this service to an alarm monitoring company. Can anyone share the pros and cons of moving forward and outsourcing this type of service.
Residential Intrusion/Fire Alarm Systems
1.Currently, our in-house security staffing (keyholders) response to the residential alarm activatation with the police assistance and reset the alarms, if no one is at home.  Does alarm monitoring providers offer this type of service? If not, what is the protocol?
Looking for some ideas and how to move forward concerning our Residential Security Program.
Thanks in advance for any ideas you can share.

Many homes these days have

Many homes these days have some kind of alarm system installed. These can be fire alarm systems, burglary alarm systems, wireless alarm systems or any other for that matter. But the one thing that is common with all these alarm systems is that all have a nerve system better called as the control panel. It is the control panel that regulates and sets of the alarm in case of untoward incident. The more advanced and highly reliable alarm systems are the monitoring security systems. If a alarm system does not support 24x7 monitoring of all activities then it is not completing its purpose of providing fool proof security.

I will definitely contact insurance agents, friends and neighbours for referrals; meet up a few companies in order to compare, and also enquire at state licensing agencies and even the BBB to inquire about the status of these companies.

Some of the improved

Some of the improved techonlogy is not only alarm based but CTV can provided police with some view of what is going on in your home if the alarm is activated. I believe this is rather expensive, however, if you are concerned it may be your best solution.

An alarm program is obviously important, and it safeguards from theft. Surely India is amongst the fastest growing economies in the world and tech cities like Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad are leading the way. Property prices in these cities are on the upper side as multinational companies look for set base here.

Safes are important, too

While an alarm program is obviously important, I hope your corporation doesn't overlook buying safes to stores all of your valuable items at work. In case a burglary happens, you don't want to be regretting not making this move.

ecoley,

As a VIP Security Manager my experience of using monitoring companies has thrown up a raft of problems, mainly with cost and the standards of service provided. The solution to your issues would be dependent on your existing procedures. Feel free to contact me in confidence

Outsourcing Security Monitoring

I can understand why you would be interested in outsourcing this labor, but I find it potentially hazardous if you are not looking for a local company to do the work. Part of what makes a successful home security systems company is the feeling of "local protection", that the company is wililng to work with police and other local authorities to keep your home safe. The national companies have difficulty retaining customers after the first few incidents because they see the bureaucracy involved as well as the unwillingness to deviate away from protocol. If your outsourcing is going to be to a national company, I'd recommend supplementing it with a local company perhaps, who can simply deal with the daily activities of customers.

Of course, outsourcing makes

Of course, outsourcing makes a lot of sense with some functions, such as security monitoring, and no sense with others (such as developing a security strategy, policy, or controls). Our survey showed that when asked which functions they were considering outsourcing, most respondents were looking into security monitoring (53 percent), security management (52 percent), and identity and access management (54 percent). Interestingly, 31 percent of respondents stated that they were looking into full IT outsourcing as a part of their security outsourcing initiatives, suggesting that the challenges associated with managing IT in-house may not only be limited to security.

Alarm Response Companies

Dear colleague

I have being working in the Executive Protection field as a EP and Consultant for over 30 years but had not yet found any alarm companies that delivery a time response that is realistic to the time-reaction needed to stop the burglary or other unauthorized entry. Nothing like an old fashion person monitoring the CCTV and the broad in/out perimeter sensor unities. If you do find someone with a reliable response time, please let me know. There are no pro's that I could find on it, Sorry. Thanks

Outsourcing to a monitoring

Outsourcing to a monitoring company can be advantageous because they usually operate with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and can dispatch staff/ police quickly should problem arises. I will definitely contact insurance agents, friends and neighbours for referrals; meet up a few companies in order to compare, and also enquire at state licensing agencies and even the BBB to inquire about the status of these companies.

Steve
