Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush presented some of his personal lessons-learned in crisis management and disaster preparedness as advice to attendees at Wednesday’s General Session. The lessons “can be applied to any setting, whether you’re the governor, or a CSO, or the fire warden on your office floor,” Bush said.

On Monday night, throngs of attendees were unleashed on Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida, at the ASIS President’s Reception, sponsored by AlliedBarton Security Services (Booth #2601). Upon entering the park, attendees could hear the violent mechanical roar of The Incredible Hulk Coaster as it rushed by with its screaming cargo.

At Tuesday’s luncheon, the new Board Management Committee of the ASIS Board of Directors for 2012 was announced by ASIS Chairman of the Board of Directors Joseph Granger, CPP. “The Board met yesterday…and elected to the office of secretary Dave N. Tyson, CPP, of Apollo Information Systems,” Granger told the audience.

We’ve all heard the injunction to “commit random acts of kindness.” In a Tuesday morning breakfast address to the ASIS International Women in Security (WIS) group, Susan Mazza urged attendees to commit “random acts of leadership.” Her point was that leadership need not be demonstrated by reaching for lofty goals, but that it can be exhibited by simple acts that are easily accomplished.
